She hides behind her makeup
Eyeliner is never enough
The pictures and posters tear her up
She wants to be beautiful
Like the girls on TV shows
Short skirts
Tight shirts
What were the perks?
She’s in their sight
It doesn’t feel right
Where’s her knight?
She feels sold
This is getting old
It’s not the same story her
Friends told
Popularity and boys
She just feels like a toy
They swear it’s fun
But she’s done
There was no sun
How’s that fun?
Her cheeks were hallowed
Her hair came from a bottle
Everything was too hard to swallow
The good life didn’t feel as good
As she thought it would
She ran away
Buried in shame…
